I don’t drink much so wine and the cocktails have been the biggest chanllenge for me!! I am trying to decide which cocktails or other alc. bevs to push? And also how is the best way to describe them? I am horrible at describing them bc I do not drink so I don’t know what to say! For instance say I was gonna push a strawberry maragarita I would say it is frozen and is made with strawberry! Can be served on the rocks! lol No one wld buy from me:-) Please help me. Please tell me what has worked for u.
2nd question…what questions get asked the most? Describe the soups or what dinners/lunch do you suggest? Should i work my hardest at first getting good at describing quickly soups and apps. Or entrees. I am studying for hrs wach day because product knowledge is so important.
Can I just get some advice….? Never worked at resturant. I am just really good with sales and customer service!! But never sold food or been server:)
Thanks so much. Mostly need help w/ alcohol and any other tips!
I would just go online somewhere and learn about drinks. For instance, I think read wine goes with steak and white wine goes with fish. Hey, I dunno. When I worked at Olive Garden I was a pasta maker!

First of all stay calm and simply ask your customer’s if they would like to start with drink’s while they decide what to order. Most customer’s already have a preference in mind so just tell them about the special’s for example two for one’s or getting a pitcher. Use your customer service skill’s and smile. Good luck.

Most people already have a favorite drink, so that should not be a problem. As for wines, you probably have someone in the resturaunt that is really expert. Ask him/her what is really good in a red wine, a white wine, and a rose`. White goes with fish, red with beef. You are in an Italian place, so a good Italian wine. Go in a little early, and talk to the chef. Ask him how to describe the items on the menu. Usually " very good selection" suffices. When a customer says " is this item good?" say" Oh, yes, very g

The last time I was at the Olive Garden, my mom asked the server if the the steak was tender (I know, stupid question). The server said it was chewy tender! I almost fell off my chair. If it’s chewy, it’s definitely not tender!
ok, go you’re first question. Don’t push the margaritas. Olive Garden isn’t a Mexican place. Push the wine. Ask the guest if they like red or white. then ask them if they like dry or sweet wine. If they like sweet white’s, recommend a pinot grigio. if they like dry, recommend a chardonay. if they say somewhere in between, go with the pinot grigio.
If they like sweet red, go with pinot noir. If they don’t like sweet, go with chianti.
Question 2. The most common question is "what do you recommend?". DO NOT tell them that you don’t like the food. Just make something up or name something or go with the trio.
